Is It Friday Yet?

For some reason this week went by painfully slow. Each morning I woke up hoping it was Friday…
Yesterday was a pretty busy day, as soon as I got off of work I hit up the hair salon and then the fort for the 6pm class. The strength was the floor press. Jennie recommended that we add up to 2 kilos to our training max (85% of our one rep max) if we hit all of our numbers last week (which I did). However, I felt I should stay at my current TM as my floor presses seemed quite heavy the last cycle. We were supposed to complete 3 sets of three at 70%, 80%, and 90% of our TM. The last set was for max reps and I ended up with 11. I guess I should have up-ed my TM this cycle, but oh well…I’ll just continue to work at the high reps and increase next cycle! The WOD Bill programed for us last night was a good as it looked on the white board. We had a 12:00 AMRAP of 3 power cleans (40k), 6 pushups, and 9 squats. I completed this WOD Rxd, and got 14 rounds, 3 cleans, 6 pushups and 5 squats. I really like heavy cleans, so I was excited to get this WOD started. My goal was to keep the reps unbroken throughout the WOD but unfortunately my pushups gave way in the 10th round. I was pleased with my performance and felt great after working out. I've been continually working on my dead hang pullups each day after class. I've been doing 5 reps just to increase my strength. I hope to see it help my kipping pullups soon! After class, Zach and I hit up a little Mexican restaurant for some Carne Asada, it was delicious and a great end to my Thursday.
I woke up this morning so excited that it is Friday and almost a three day weekend! I have been waiting for this day all week…as soon as school got out I came home and got ready to hit up the four o’clock class at the fort. Today we were working heavy front squats.  Bill informed us before we got started that he wanted us to add up to 5 kilos to our training max. I hit all of my previous reps for front squats so we thought I could add four kilos this cycle. We needed to complete three sets of three at 70%, 80%, and 90% of our training max. My first set was at 52.5k, then 60k and lastly 67.5k. That last set was incredibly heavy, especially since my quads were so sore after yesterday’s WOD. Today’s METCON (metabolic conditioning) was 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of ball slams (20#), box jumps (20”), and goblet squats (16#). The goal time was 7:00-9:00 minutes. I was hoping to be on the lower end of that goal time, so I knew I wouldn’t have much time to rest and needed to keep my reps unbroken. My first round of box jumps were a little rusty, my legs felt like they weighed a million pounds for some reason…they finally loosened up by the second round. I ended up with a time of 7:31. I was pleased with my time and felt I moved through with WOD well.
I am eager for this weekend; it is going to be full of fun social events! Tonight Zach and I are going to hit up a friend’s for a yummy paleo meal and some wine! Tomorrow is the CFF train crawl and Sunday we’re going to watch the Bears game. And I am off on Monday, so I’ll be relaxing  – WAHOO!
