Yesterday at the fort was an ENORMOUS milestone for me. I had seen on facebook from a GYGer (Graveyard Gang, 5:30am class at CFF) early in the morning that we were going to be tackling 'Isabel' (30 snatches at 40k). I was anxious all day, and couldn’t wait to get to the fort for the 5er, and get my snatch on! Back in September I finished in 2:42 at only 30k. I had decided that I would up my bar 5k this time around. As I was warming up my coach, Jennie said she felt that 35k wouldn't be that much of a challenge and I should try 40k. What Jennie didn't know is that my SRM (single rep max) for snatch is only 43k. So a WOD of 30 snatches at 40k seems quite heavy! So I let her know my reservations, nevertheless she still wanted me to attempt ‘Isabel’ prescribed. I was then determined to finish that WOD and even attempt to get a spot on our record board! 5:27 after Jennie shouted “3, 2, 1, go!” I finished my 30th snatch and was relieved it was over! A smiling Jennie came running at me with open arms to congratulate me on making the board. It was a great feeling and I am proud of how far I’ve come in just 4 months.
Tonight we worked on heavy deadlifts for strength. My first two sets of three were heavy at 77k, and 88k. The last set was 3+ reps and I ended up getting 5 at 99k. I was pretty happy with that seeing as though my old SRM for deadlift was 100k! Then we moved on to the WOD. It was 5 rounds of 1:30 of 25 burpees, and then in the remaining time do as many pull-ups as possible. I decided to scale to A which was only 20 burpees. Your total score was the number of pull-ups you were able to complete. My score was 16. I was a little disappointed, but knowing that I did 100 burpees after those 5 rounds made me feel good !
I headed home from the fort and popped the meatloaf in the oven. I am starving and can’t wait to eat another paleo friendly meal! Zach and I are participating in the “Gluten Free January” challenge, and it is really helping us dial in our nutrition. Since January 1st I have lost 4lbs. Which feels great and I am seeing changes in my body already. I am also starting to see an increase in my energy and more stable emotions. Paleo is how I want to live my life and Zach and I are working very hard to make it a lifestyle.
